Seeds to Schools Workshop At The Jay Heritage Center


The Rye YMCA and the Jay Heritage Center are co-sponsoring “ Seeds to Schools: Building Gardens, Building Community,” which is a free half-day workshop which will teach the skills of developing and sustaining school-based edible gardens.

 

This workshop will be held on Wednesday, February 5th from 8:30 am to 1 pm at the Jay Heritage Center Carriage House, a National Historic Landmark that is located at 210 Boston Post Road in Rye.

The panel discussions will have speakers from schools all over Westchester County and will discuss topics such as: starting a garden, how to use the produce, sustaining your garden, and connecting curriculum to gardening.  Some non-profit garden related organizations and businesses would also be there to distribute information and discuss existing resources.

There will be light refreshments served. Attendees are also welcome to bring a brown bag lunch and a re-useable water bottle. A gift basket courtesy of Whole Foods, will be raffled at the workshop.
