Port Chester's Troop 400 has its First Eagle Scout

College student reaches top rank in Boy Scouts.

Adam "AJ" Monis is the first Eagle Scout for Port Chester's Troop 400 Boys Scouts unit.

An Eagle Court of Honor took place on Sunday to officially celebrate the college student's completion of the requirements for scouting's highest rank.

In the ceremony, Troop 400 Scout Master Moe Acevedo recognized Monis for his achievement.

As part of his effort to become an Eagle Scout, Monis, 18, who is a student at Westchester Community College, built an outdoor study area at Port Chester Middle School.

Troop 400 was formed just two years ago with six members. The troop, based out of Port Chester's Carver Center, now has 18 scouts and is growing.

Monis is hoping to move on to become an adult scout leader with the troop.
