Perú Food Festival & Expo in Crawford Park

The festival will feature live music and food tasting from three regions of Perú. Sunday, June 23rd, 2013, 12:00pm - 7:00pm at Crawford Park.

Local Chefs will join forces with Peruvian artists on Sunday for the Tasting at Peru Food Festival and Expo, billed as "the first Peruvian gastronomic event in the history of Westchester," according to a release from event organizer, Westchester Hispano.

The event will be held at Crawford Park, in Rye Brook, Sunday June 23rd, 2013, 12:00pm to 7:00pm. 

At the festival, Peruvian chefs will showcase a variety of Peruvian dishes –  from the Ceviche dish, flag and king of the Peruvian coast to the Pachamanca, a great representative of the Andes. Also, the delicious Juanes from the Jungle of Peru, to the Chiriuchu, traditional dish of Cusco, and, according to the release, there will be a special presentation of Quinoa.

The event benefits from the support and participation of:

  • Consul General of Peru in New York, Ambassador Maria Teresa Merino Hart
  • Minister of Culture of the Peruvian Consulate, Orlando Velorio
  • Director of  the Commercial Office of Peru in New York, Conrado Falco
  • Port Chester Trustee,  Luis Marino, a native of Peru who has long been active in the Port Chester community
  • Westchester’s local Peruvian Chefs
  • Peruvian musicians Yuri Juárez, Afroperuvian Jazz Band, and Carlos Yamasaki, director Sarandango, both Peruvians musicians leaders in its field in the tri-state area, as well as Agua Bella, the female band
Westchester Hispano, according to the release, has organized the festival with an eye to furthering its mission of inspiring Peruvian caterers and restaurants to provide quality food and proudly represent the Incan land. Further, their goal is to inspire local Peruvian youth and adults to embrace a window of opportunity in a highly competitive market.

Founded in 2006, Westchester Hispano is a Spanish language newspaper that focuses on local Latin American communities, featuring national and human interest stories, as well as election coverage of Latin American countries.
