Patch Picks: 3 Must-See Local Art Exhibits

Enjoy an afternoon of art at any of these nearby showcases.

Why go to a museum when  you can see talent for free? All of these nearby spots feature local artistic creativity this Saturday and Sunday without cost to patrons, creating a perfect opportunity to spend an otherwise dull afternoon deciphering the meaning of abstract art with your friends or spouse.

Port Chester

To find elements of hard work and dedication by Westchester’s younger set, one needn’t look any further than this facility’s showcase. As the month-long exhibition has culminated a semester’s worth of studio-time, viewers will be sure to enjoy watching talent unfold in the classroom.

Rye

This exhibit by photographer Cordia Murphy will tug at the heartstrings of anyone who has grown up in Rye. As she has provided close ups of well-known local scenery, like Milton Harbor and its tidal estuary, Blind Brook, the pictures will have Rye natives recalling memories of their own childhoods. Breaking dawn, herons and other seabirds are just a few common themes throughout the reminiscent works.
