Nobody Does Fireworks Like Port Chester

Join thousands on July 4 for a time-honored local tradition and watch the night sky bloom with lights above Ryan Stadium.

Port Chester has the best fireworks show in the county.

For those who have been to the village's July 4 celebrations, they know it's not local pride or subjective appreciation backing up that statement. For as far back as anyone can remember, the annual fireworks show at Port Chester High School is the most explosive and fantastic in the area.

That's evidenced by the swelling crowds and the hundreds who take to surrounding boulevards to walk to Ryan Stadium, and the astonished "ooohs" and "aaahs" of young children watching the show for the first time.

This year promises to be no different. Festivities begin at sundown at Ryan Stadium, behind Port Chester High School at 1 Tamarack Rd. in Rye Brook. Fireworks are slated for 9 p.m., but get there early or bring a blanket and some lawn chairs -- the bleacher seats go quick.

In the meantime, click the photo gallery above for images of last year's fireworks at PCHS, and check back with Port Chester Patch on July 4 for a video feature on the annual fireworks show.
