More than 1,000 Celebrate Neri's Milestone at Lyon Park

Neighbors and friend came out to enjoy music, food, and entertainment in honor of the bakery's 100th anniversary.

For a business to last through the generations is commendable, but for it to be beloved by its customers for the better part of a hundred years — that's admirable.

This past Saturday afternoon, hundreds of people around town swarmed nearly every square inch of Lyon Park to celebrate Neri's Bakery's 100th anniversary.

To show their gratitude for the community's support, the business went-all out for the party, lining up an entire day's worth of food and entertainment.

The party had the feel of a family barbecue, with a sea of familiar faces moving between tents, stands and picnic tables.

Anna Bortanova, a resident of the village for more than forty years, said the mutual love between the community and the bakery was forged through fond memories and many decades.

"A lot of other companies wouldn't have done something like this," she said.

Fun for kids included a bounce house, a mini carousel, and characters like Dora the Explorer and Spongebob Squarepants dancing around and taking pictures with their biggest fans.

Throughout the afternoon, musical groups of different cultures helped to bring the mix of ethnicities together as they sang and played on stage all afternoon. Starting with an Italian band early afternoon, people of all ages stretched out their lawn chairs on the grass for some tunes and bonding with old friends under the autumn sun. Spanish influenced beats later got people out of their seats and grooving.

As nightfall came, it was time for – what else? – cake.

In true Neri's fashion, it was delicious.
