I-95 Bridge Inspections Will Cause Lane Closures in Greenwich, Stamford

Traffic alert for southbound I-95, expect lane closures for bridge inspections and maintenance.


If you plan to use southbound lanes of the Connecticut Turnpike I-95 on Thursday, you may want to rethink your plans. And check your travel agendas for next week as well.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation says inspection work will be performed on the bridge joints on I-95 southbound in Stamford and Greenwich and will require daytime lane closures on Thursday, Feb. 20.

Inspection work associated with the asphaltic plug joints in the towns of Stamford and Greenwich will require the daytime closures of the left and center lanes on I-95 southbound between Exits 6 and Exit 2. This work is scheduled to be performed between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

LANE CLOSURE INFO:

Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. The regular work schedule for this project is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.

Another set of bridge inspections will be done next week. There will be a nighttime bridge maintenance project performed on I-95 southbound in Greenwich, on Feb. 25 and Feb. 27. Hours will be from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Motorists can expect lane closures on I-95 Southbound between Exit 2 (Doran Avenue) and the New York State Line in Greenwich.  raffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. The regular work schedule for this project is from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. (Tuesday & Thursday evening).

The contract for the statewide bridge inspection project was awarded to New England Roads Industries, of Clinton, and is expected to continue through August.
