Good Night Irene: Port Chester Boards Up

Businesses on Port Chester's waterfront and Main Street corridor have boarded up storefronts, decorating some of the makeshift protection with not-so-fond messages to Irene.

Tonight there will be no cold beer poured from the taps of , no lively outdoor parties on the deck of Copacabana, no festive music floating from verdant courtyard.

Like its neighboring communities and every major city on the eastern seaboard, Port Chester has closed down in anticipation of the storm. Whether Hurricane Irene turns out to be historic or just a bunch of hype, store owners and restaurant managers aren't taking any chances.

Pictured above is the shuttered Sam's Bar and Grill on Byram's border with Port Chester, complete with a hastily-scribbled message: "Goodnight Irene!"
