TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Movers For Moms Program Delivers over 115,000 Items to more than 100 Shelters Across the U.S. this Mother’s Day

As the majority of moms across the country were being treated to dinner or pampered with gifts on Mother’s Day, thousands of others spent the day living in shelters, thankful to have a roof over their head. To offer support and make Mother’s Day a little brighter for women in crisis, the national moving company TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®partnered with more than 200 schools and community organizations this spring for its Movers for Moms®charity drive. Franchise locations from 27 states collected more than 115,000 items for women living in more than 100 homeless and domestic abuse relief shelters across the country.

Locally, the Westchester TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®franchise partnered with Tutor Time in Armonk and 103.9 WFAS to collect items, including food, clothing, toiletries and other essentials for women staying at the YWCA in White Plains.

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® started the Movers for Moms® collection drive five years ago in Michigan, with 20 franchises collecting a few hundred donations for women staying in eight shelters across the state.  Since then, the program has experienced substantial growth. This year, 102 franchise locations were involved in what is fast becoming a national program.

“The significant growth that Movers for Moms® has seen these past five years has been absolutely incredible, and each year we are thrilled to partner with the community to support thousands of women in need who deserve to feel loved and appreciated—especially on Mother’s Day,” saidTWO MEN AND A TRUCK® President/CEO Brig Sorber. “I’m most excited by the passion our franchisees have exhibited for the program and their commitment to making it a success within the communities they serve.”

Hi, Thank you both for the feedback. Aiden, were you trying to post as a board message? There mightRead More have been some kind of technical glitch that our IT team is working out. In regards to your other comments, I urge you to give it a little time to get used to. The little bell at the top right of the page has a red circle with a number in it to tell you that someone has commented or interacted with something you have done so you should be able to go there and see exactly what is going on in the places where you posted. I hope this helps!

I agree with Aidan. I would check the Patch once a day for the articles, but several times to seeRead More how a discussion progressed. With the new format, that method is virtually impossible.

Btw, I tried for twenty minutes to post this as a new thread ... I finally gave up because pageRead More after page did zero ... just spun me nowhere. A waste.

Linda T., I would guess Mrs. Brakewood lives in Port Chester if she is running for the Port ChesterRead More Board of Ed. Even if the schools had to impose an austerity budget, your taxes would still go up. The state has more control in these matters than you think.

Linda, the per pupil expenditure in PC schools is the lowest in Westchester and Rockland countiesRead More ... by about $2,000 per student. The issue is two fold. First, our property values are not as strong as our neighbors, so our homes have a higher levy in order to fund the schools. Second, and more important, is that the reliance on property taxes slams moderate income communities like PC. We need for the state to move to an income tax to fund schools. Scream at your legislators ... not the BoE.

I am concerned there is not enough attention to detail in the BOE budget overall and Mrs. BrakewoodRead More comment about keeping taxes affordable ... where does she live ? they are out of control and in my opinion the money we pay for taxes we should have the best looking schools anywhere ... just my opinion
