Hudson Chorale Welcomes New Members in September

After a thrilling live performance of Paine’s Mass in D
in May, Hudson Chorale is welcoming new members in preparation for its 2012-2013 season.  Singers in all
voice parts (SATB) are invited to join Westchester’s largest mixed-voice choral group for an exciting January 26, 2013 concert.  It will feature an eclectic program for chorus and strings including Mozart’s Missa Brevis in D Minor and

excerpts from Porgy and Bess, with a little Mendelssohn, Sondheim and Whitacre thrown in.  The May 11, 2013 concert will be an all-Beethoven program with full orchestra featuring the Mass in C and other pieces. The chorus’ goal is to provide both audience members and singers with the best possible experience in choral singing, offering a repertoire that ranges from the great masterpieces to contemporary compositions.  Singers looking for a new or additional choral family are encouraged to consider the Hudson Chorale.

Michael Conley is the Music Director of the Hudson Chorale.  Mr. Conley enjoys a multi-faceted career as a conductor, composer, pianist, organist and singer.  In
addition to serving as Music Director of the Hudson Chorale, Mr. Conley is the Music Director of the highly popular West Village Chorale and the Judson Memorial Church in Manhattan.

Rehearsals for the upcoming season will begin on Monday, September 10, 2012 from 7:30 pm – 10:00 pm and will take place on subsequent Monday evenings at the Scarborough Presbyterian Church, 655 Scarborough Rd (Route 9), Scarborough, NY.  “Singer-friendly” auditions will take place Thursday, September 6 by appointment and on subsequent Mondays prior to rehearsal. Concerts
venues are in Irvington and Scarborough. To receive additional information and/or to schedule a time for an audition, contact Jeanne Wygant at JeanneWygant@optonline.net  or call (914) 478-0074.  To learn more about the chorus, visit the website at www.HudsonChorale.org.

Linda T., I would guess Mrs. Brakewood lives in Port Chester if she is running for the Port ChesterRead More Board of Ed. Even if the schools had to impose an austerity budget, your taxes would still go up. The state has more control in these matters than you think.

Linda, the per pupil expenditure in PC schools is the lowest in Westchester and Rockland countiesRead More ... by about $2,000 per student. The issue is two fold. First, our property values are not as strong as our neighbors, so our homes have a higher levy in order to fund the schools. Second, and more important, is that the reliance on property taxes slams moderate income communities like PC. We need for the state to move to an income tax to fund schools. Scream at your legislators ... not the BoE.

I am concerned there is not enough attention to detail in the BOE budget overall and Mrs. BrakewoodRead More comment about keeping taxes affordable ... where does she live ? they are out of control and in my opinion the money we pay for taxes we should have the best looking schools anywhere ... just my opinion
