Water Line Work Cuts Into Traffic in Downtown Port Chester

A section of Main Street blocked at Westchester Avenue for construction along sidewalk.

Drivers and pedestrians going through downtown Port Chester have an extra challenge today as construction work along a sidewalk also blocks off part of the roadway along Main Street.

A contractor working on a buried water line is taking up about a half-block worth of South Main Street for heavy equipment needed on the project. That has created a lane closure that is delaying traffic at the intersection of South Main Street and Westchester Avenue.

Port Chester police officers are assigned at the intersection today to assist with traffic in the area.
