Trustees to Meet Tonight: Board to Hire New Building Inspector

Trustees will hear from the public on a local noise law and review the latest quarterly report from code enforcement.

More than a week ago, detectives from Port Chester and said the suite would remain closed until village hall hired a new building inspector.

Last week Mayor Dennis Pilla said , and tonight trustees will vote on appointment of a new leader for the beleagured department, which was first shuttered in April of 2010 at the start of a police investigation.

Also on the agenda for tonight: a public hearing on a noise law that would let contractors work later – or earlier – if they get approval from the board. Trustees have said the local law would be geared toward commercial zones such as the riverfront.

Code Enforcement Director Christopher Steers will present his office's tonight, providing an update on statistics, inspections, and fire and trash violations in Port Chester.

The board will meet at 7 p.m. at the village courthouse, on 350 N. Main St.
