Port Chester Man Accused of Smashing Store Windows

24-year-old also cited for drug possession, resisting arrest.

A Port Chester man who was seen throwing his body into store windows on Westchester Avenue in Port Chester was arrested Thursday night, according to Port Chester Police.

Brandon Devers, 24, of 360 Westchester Ave., was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, resisting arrest and illegal drug possession in connection with an incident that took place at 10 p.m. near The Capitol Theatre.

Police said that they received a complaint about an apparently intoxicated man walking on Westchester Avenue and throwing his body into storefront windows as he went by. Police said village officers spotted Devers and called to him but he refused to stop.

Devers, police said, broke windows at 185 Westchester Ave. and 191 Westchester Ave., and when he was confronted by police he fought with village officers. Police said that when they searched Devers they found he was carrying Ecstacy pills, leading to a charge of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Despite throwing himself against windows, police said Devers was not injured in the incident. Devers faces a hearing in Port Chester Village Court.
