Packed Stands For Annual Port Chester Band Night
Students from kindergarten to seniors performed on the Port Chester High School Football field
The stands were packed at Port Chester High School Tuesday evening for the 68th Annual Band Night.
Despite an overcast and ominous sky, hundreds of fans showed up to support their local band members and were rewarded with a lovely evening and quite a show.
“I’m really glad the weather held up,” said High School Band Director Bob Vitti. “Every year this is the biggest thing we do for the town to showcase our program here in Port Chester. It’s very well supported.”

Guests were invited to arrive early and enjoy food, drinks and each other’s company as the youngsters got set up.
“It’s a huge honor to be representing the town of Port Chester,” said Rosie Veltri of Port Chester High School who sang the national anthem to get the night started. “It was an honor just to be asked but it is truly amazing to be able to do this for everyone.”

Bands from all of the Port Chester schools participated in the evenings events Thomas Edison, King Street, Park Avenue and JFK Magnet elementaries got things started by with their individual marches and performances. After each school had their moment they came together and performed the "William Tell Overture" and "25 or 6 to 4" as one large band under the instruction of Mike Miceli and Anthony Sabia.
Port Chester Middle School came out and was followed up by the 7th and 8th grade band and their wild trumpet performance (see pictures and video).
Then it was time for the big performance. The Port Chester High School Marching Band took the field and did not disappoint. After nailing their 2012 routine, a fireworks display was discharged in the background and the crowd went wild.
“I’m from Port Chester,” said Music Department Chairman Ken Krout. “As a teacher I’m always just so pleased. You can come in and see what the band was doing in the 1930’s right up until today. We’ve hand some legendary band directors that have put the band on the map. This is the single largest attended event in Port Chester, we have children from Kindergarten to Seniors. It gets very emotional and I’m always proud of the band.”
