Man Wanted in Port Chester Drug Probe Arrested at County Jail

Port Chester man charged in "Operation Clean Sweep" probe of street-level drug sales.

A Port Chester man wanted in connection with an investigation of illegal drug sales on the streets of Port Chester had charges filed against him as he was being held at the Westchester County Jail, according to Port Chester Police.

Police said they were notified this week that Joseph Ferrara, 23, of 8C Highland Ave., was in custody at the county jail in Valhalla. With that, police said Ferraro was hit with charges of criminal possession of a controlled sustance and criminal sale of a controlled substance.

Lt. James Ladeairous said Port Chester Police Department, working with the Narcotics Unit of the Westchester County Department of Public Safety, has been aggressively investigating sales of illegal narcotics in the village. Arrests in "Operation Clean Sweep" have been made for the street level sale of narcotics including cocaine, crack cocaine, heroin, prescriptions pills and marijuana.

The 18-month probe was announced in November 2012 when police announced a dozen arrests in connection with the investigation.
