Dispute Over Dart Game Leads To Clash With Port Chester Police

Village resident accused of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest.

A Port Chester man faces charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after a confrontation with police outside a bar on Willet Avenue, according the Port Chester police.

A dispute over a late-night dart game Saturday at , 538 Willett Ave., led the bar’s staff to ask two men to leave, police said. However, bar employees called police when it became obvious to them that the two men were waiting outside to have a confrontation with the three other men still in the bar who were involved in the dart game.

Police said two village officers who went to the bar at 3:40 a.m. and found the two men outside and asked them to leave the area. One of the men cooperated, but police said the other man, Damien Gunning, 40, of 1 Webster Ave., Port Chester, refused to leave and became involved in a struggle with the two police officers.

In the struggle, a police officer was pushed to the ground and sustained a minor knee injury, police said.

Gunning was arrested and later released pending a Port Chester Village Court hearing.
